In an increasingly splintered world mired in geopolitical uncertainties, 2025 was a defining year for synchronising international priorities for cooperation. The flavour of multilateralism notwithstanding, three events in 2025 emerged as beacons of hope. FfD4, COP30, and the G20 were opportunities for India to show its prowess in multilateral negotiations, while rejuvenating its domestic stance on tax policy, and how it shall view multilateral developments with an extended focus on tax and allied macroeconomic issues in 2026.

An opinion piece, titled ‘2025 reset cooperation priorities’, was published by Financial Express (India). The piece discusses the aforementioned 2025 developments and examines the urgent command India holds as a priority jurisdiction to influence the multilateral order in 2026, and beyond.
