We, at BMR Legal Advocates are delighted to share that our Partners, Mr Mukesh . Butani and Ms Seema Kejriwal Jariwala are in attendance for the Tax Academy of Singapore‘s 20th Anniversary Conference today, contributing to the global dialogue shaping the future of international tax policy.
The programme diligently brought together policymakers, tax authorities, academics and practitioners to address areas where complexity is increasing, in particular dispute resolution, MAP and BAPA processes, and the implementation challenges arising from Pillar Two. In particular, the Conference, curated by Mr Dennis Lui, featured stalwarts such as Prof. Dr. Robert J. DANON and Achim Pross from the OECD – OCDE Centre for Tax Policy and Administration, as they discussed and deliberated on important developments in the realm of international tax.
Mr Butani was invited to serve as a Panellist in two crucial sessions. While the first session on global tax controversies examined how disputes are evolving across jurisdictions, including current transfer pricing trends, the practical use of MAP and BAPA, and how MNEs are managing disputes in a more demanding and visible environment, the second navigated the ecosystem of tax incentives in the context of Pillar Two, focusing on the impact of tax incentives in relation to trade and investment initiatives. With Ms Kejriwal in attendance, the Conference was a rich confluence of ideas and deliberations on tax policy, as well as a chance to meet peers, clients, government representatives, and colleagues as they brainstormed the future of international taxation.
We commend the Tax Academy of Singapore colleagues (Eunice Toh, Kelly Ho, Maggie Wee, Tiffany Tan, and the entire team that worked tirelessly) for their seamless coordination and exceptional execution of this watershed event.
Our BMR colleagues Spandana Koona, Mansi Mathur and Varun Gakhar contributed to the research and diligence that went behind the sessions. BMR remains committed to the Academy’s cause to foster dialogue and build an architecture for tax certainty.
